About Us
“Let’s Think On It” is just that: an invitation to think on a subject. We slow down the discussion to understand a topic. By sharing knowledge and life experiences, participants come away with a sense of enlightenment. “Let’s Think On It” is a platform for various outlets of public education. We have seminars for the general public, continuing education classes for professionals, podcasts, and a radio presence. In our educational coursework, we adopt an interactive lecture style that includes the audience in the process. In our radio and podcast episodes, we attempt to uncover the human aspect of most any topic. Our process embraces our differences in knowledge and opinions. We hope to capitalize on one of the greatest assets of the human race: diversity. Some of our favorite descriptive words are: creativity, problem solving, scientific, spirituality, tolerance, respect, compassion, perseverance, team, honor, humor, and love.
The concept started in 2010, by psychiatrist Mark Westfall, as a public and professional education series named “Housecalls Lecture Series”. Dr. Westfall had previously provided CE lectures to professionals and found that his style of interactive learning was very well received in comparison to the traditional lecture/listener approach. Following a promotional spot for one of his talks on Birmingham Mountain Radio’s “Oh Brother Radio” show, he found a kindred spirit in the show’s hosts (Will and Reed Lochamy). They decided to try a monthly guest spot for Dr. Westfall on their show; that idea has continued since January 2015. Initially Dr. Westfall was the “expert” on various topics, but it soon grew to include other guests with an expertise or life experience to share. This allowed all involved to contribute with their own perspective on a topic and round table discussions ensued. The radio show uncovered the need for more conversations to be had, so Dr. Westfall started a podcast series. He asked Haley Ingrum and Jeff Thomas to join him as “Co-thinkers” for the podcast format. Join us in our growth of these ventures by spreading the word, listening to any of our outlets and participating in the discussions.
